BEST MED: Sustainable Path and Cultural Routes Model- MED S&C Path
The objective of the BEST MED project is to enhance Mediterranean governance and address challenges such as seasonality and the lack of cooperation among the stakeholders in the transboundary Mediterranean region as well as create a smart, participatory and sustainable tourism development model by highlighting cultural routes and paths.
The study presents the Med S&C Path Model which aims at the integrated planning and sustainable management of cultural routes and other physical or thematic paths in Mediterranean destinations. It includes the theoretical concept and methodology of the model, a toolbox which will be used as a guide for the implementation of the model, an assessment of the useful tools and best practices derived by 20 EU-funded projects that focus on measuring tourism sustainability and product diversification as well as guidelines and recommendations for the implementation of the model, the development of synergies and the use of data and sustainable tourism planning.
